A Lethal Time Samantha Jamison Mystery Book 4 edition by Peggy A Edelheit Literature Fiction eBooks

Author Peggy A. Edelheit has managed (in a writing range that is solid) to create what every author of romance adventures wants – a character so balanced and so real that all who read her series (of which this is book 3) end up saying ‘Everybody loves Samantha1’. Samantha Jamison is an author/sleuth and it is because of her well-sculpted personality that she manages to attract every one who comes across the good fortune of reading either all or some of this series.

Though Peggy is just publishing Book 10 in the Samantha Jamison series, this is Book 4. This being one of the few of the series this reader has not consumed there is a retrospective sense of growth in the style – but no fret, it is just another delectable outing with Samantha.

From the outset of this adventure we know Peggy’s usual combination of humor and mystery is about to leap forward. After an early AM phone call (quoted in the title of this review) we are given Samantha’s response: ‘“You are Samantha Jamison aren’t you?” I sat there still in my sleep-induced stupor. Was I? Well of course I was! “… Yes, that’s me.” “Well, I was told you were real good at figuring out unusual mysteries, so you have got to help me. Someone has stolen my woods!” And off we go in one of Peggy’s ‘further adventures of author/sleuth Samantha.

As Peggy’s own very brief synopsis tells us, ‘I was beginning to question a lot, including my sanity for trying to find something I didn’t know anyone would steal in the first place. How did I end up in another complicated mystery involving a motorcycle rally, horses, a hidden collection, antique books, unexpected alliances, extortion, and threats upon my life? It was a lethal time and my time was running out. What secrets were they all afraid of me discovering?’

Without fail Peggy’s created character hold our attention (and hearts) until the end. Hop on for another quick read that will entertain you during and after you accompanying Samantha Jamison. Grady Harp, April 16

A Lethal Time Samantha Jamison Mystery Book 4 edition by Peggy A Edelheit Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

When reviewing another of Edelheit’s works, “Diamonds are not a girl’s best friend”, I compared it to an Inspector Clouseau (of Pink Panther fame) mystery, and in this case the overwhelming feel I had was of Scooby Doo.

That’s not a criticism, but rather a commentary on the style and levity; as mentioned in the author bio (which has nothing about the author, but a little about the books), these stories are first and foremost humour / satire. The comedy is not slapstick, as a lot of crime comedies go for, but rather is in one-liners without being cringeworthy, and situational silliness that are relatable to all of us; my first laugh of the book was on the first page

❝"Excuse me? I think you've got the wrong phone number," I said, fuzzily.
"You are Samantha Jamison aren't you?”
I sat there still in my sleep-induced stupor. Was I? Well of course I was! "...Yes, that's me."❞

The book is written in a hundred tiny chapters (each a couple of pages long, or sometimes three), giving the pace a particularly spritely feel, so if you’re looking for a light-reading page-turner and enjoy mystery crime caper comedy, this book is for you (as indeed are any other books by the same author that I’ve yet read).
It is always a huge pleasure to read one of Samantha Jamison's mystery adventures. They are all so well written, fun, interesting and engaging you end up wishing for Peggy A. Edelheit to never stop writing them! If I had to compare them with something that already exist, I would say it's a blend of the genius of Sherlock Holmes with just the right amount of romance and humor added to the mix and some extra characters that persist through the books after they appear for the first time; a characteristic of this series that I personally love because it makes you get very involved in every new adventure you read.

In this book, Samantha, an author that often gets into some weird mysteries that seem to follow her wherever she goes, is off to New England for a break but she will soon find out that trouble is just inescapable for her. Some of the characters in this instalment of Samantha's saga are some of the most fun of all the books, like a biker ladies gang that never failed to amuse with their occurrences.

As usual, an excellent work by Ms. Edelheit. you should read it even if you haven't done any of the previous books in the series, it's very enjoyable regardless! A fast moving plot and really likeable characters make this a super fun to read book.
Having read several of author, Peggy A. Edelheit's humorous, armature sleuth, cozy mysteries I looked forward with gusto to the wild ride I was about to experience within "A Lethal Time", and know anyone who enjoys trying to figure out which pieces to focus to solve the crime will as well. I say this because Ms. Edelheit's novels always have so many rabbit trails that I believe even Sherlock Holmes would be hard pressed to know which ones were...

Once again, our heroine is actually that well-known mystery author dealing with a publisher awaiting her next novel and will (as always) discover her story when she figures out who stole her friends’ woods - as in acres of trees!

That Samantha - Sam to all who know her will be joined by her usual lady sleuthing sidekicks and while sleuthing she'll break from the case long enough for us to see the 'Author in Chief' writing her book while speaking directly to us - her readers - made this reader feel as if I were one of her lady sleuthing sidekicks - thus drawing this reader in as no other mystery author has before, which makes this and every Peggy A. Edelheit work an amazing read!
